Pros

The people are all really great and the company really trains you well. Maybe the most structured training program I've seen. Very professional but friendly environment.

Cons

The location in midtown Houston isn't ideal. It's kind of a not-so-nice part of town. Many people commute an hour each way, since they don't want to live in the area.

Thank you for your submission and for sharing your positive experience while employed at PROS regarding the excellent structured training program. To add your comment, PROS does have a friendly dynamic culture. Midtown may not have been the ideal location for you. Yet, our employees enjoy the perks of us being within walking distance to public transportation; rail and bus, many dining restaurants, 24 Fitness, shopping, the museum area, downtown, sports arenas, the theater district, as well as, easy access to all the major freeways.

Convoluted leadership and goals

Pros

Benefits, office environment. Vacation policy

Cons

They stress work/life balance. However, it's all just rhetoric. Job readiness training is virtually nonexistent- if you don't know it going in, you'll have to figure it out yourself and quickly. Leadership/management direction and goals are confusing and change literally day by day. Much of what has been planned and developed long-term is changed causing panic, and undue pressure for all. Major platforms fail to reach fruition as planned.

Pros

CULTURE! Employees and Management that genuinely care about the customer, the company and (most importantly) each other. The company also continues to put very strong emphasis on R&D. A very strong range of benefits in a climate where many corporations are cutting back.

Cons

"Sometimes we care too much and work too hard." As cliche as it sounds, that genuine care means our teams risk burnout, at times. PROS needs to continue working to improve capacity (through disciplined hiring) and competence (through comprehensive training of new hires) to minimize burnout and ensure consistency in our delivery to customers.

Pros

As a job coming out of college, PROS is a good starter place to work at. It can also be a good place to have a career. Very diverse and inclusive. Average benefits. The work itself is niche as you always deal with their custom pricing front-end apps, but within and backend it can test your technical knowledge (scripting, sql, some programming) and communication skills with customers. Due to Corona, Professional Services has gone WFH, so if your a selective introvert, there is that.

Cons

Training is very sink or swim. Early on is a quick 2ish week program, and supplementary Computer-Based Training about the products. If you aren't very technical, slow on the uptake, and don't know how to ask for help, you will get left behind (or get dumped on the QE team at best). You do get to shadow someone, but majority of the time they are always busy. When it comes to salary, it is below market what my degree should starts at, and also a bit below market other Consultant/Analyst type jobs my friends have landed. WFH can make you feel stranded. My light bill has gone up almost two-fold since staying home. At least provide a credit for our Internet bill like you do Cell phone service!

Pros

Great environment. Incredibly smart colleagues. Good opportunity. Great benefits.

Wish there were more training opportunities. That seems to be changing as part of a recent management push, however.
