First of all, we have never had a Sales Director in Pasadena, and every Sales Director who has ever worked here for over a year is still with us with a single exception a long time ago and far from California (termination for lack of performance), so this review is false. Second, the content of the review is also patently false: A. We never laid off 50% of the company --or anything even close. B. Turnover is well below industry standards, and below Apple's, Google's and Amazon's, to name three great companies with published stats. We lose less than 6% of our employees to resignations annually, which means the average tenure of the Liberators (our employees) is over 16 years. That's more than 90% better than the national average. C. There is certainly training of our new employees (two of them are sitting in training as I write), but it is true that this is a place where you are expected to start swimming pretty quickly, so if you want to be hand-held, QLess may not be the place for you. Third, we don't really sell people on jobs here; we are extremely selective and only want self-motivated people who really want us to achieve our vision of a world without lines and our mission of extending enjoyable life. For some positions, we are more selective than Harvard. So chances are if you need to be sold, you don't belong here. Finally, note that companies --including QLess-- seldom let go salespeople who are selling enough, as they make money for the company. So it looks like this was a mutually bad fit. The one truth in this review is the note about the CEO: I am indeed terrible. Terrible at getting anything productive from anonymous criticism as vague as the above --although I do love constructive criticism when it is specific and actionable. In sum, I'd encourage readers to speak with the Liberators --actual employees who made the cut and are in a job here, rather than reading the reviews of those who didn't and aren't. The facts speak for themselves: 1. Over 12 years of uninterrupted growth 2. Crowned the Best Small Computer Services Company in America for the last six consecutive years at the American Business Awards 3. Crowned the Best Small Computer Services Company in the world for the third time at the last edition of the International Business Awards 4. Named one of L.A.'s Best Places to Work by the Los Angeles Business Journal. 5. The overwhelming majority of reviews by current employees are good. Best of luck!

Pros

Ability to work remote as needed (depending upon position and location); unlimited vacation (and they do mean this); above average base pay for most positions (not all); and a solid commission and/or bonus plan (also depending upon position and manager); overall the people you work with are all driven and hard working and most of the leadership team is on your side and work together. The product has a lot of upside, and works well (most of the time); but it is something that is needed for better efficiency and customer service by utilizing technology to alleviate your waittimes.

Cons

There are always a few bad apples in the bunch, and this is no exception. Get on the wrong side of the wrong person and you will have to deal with internal conflict, micro management and conflicting assignments. They have to rewrite and retool the solution to make it easier to launch clients; and they need to find a way to better compete at the highest levels with their big competitors while staving off all of the newcomers that are building a SaaS solution easier and better at a lower price. They have cycles where they hire heavily, only to lay-off large chunks after a number of months; and then others have to step in and take over the additional duties until they can get more funding to continue to hire and grow again.

Thanks for this thoughtful review. Although we haven't had waves of lay-offs (there has been a single lay-off in the 12 year+ history of the company, and that was before the $10M round we closed recently), one is one too many for our taste, and you are right that there we should be more careful hiring, that we invest a lot of time and money in our staff, and that we want to help them succeed --this is the main reason we hire more every year. We have made changes to try to achieve that, and will continue to get better as we continue to grow. All that said, this doesn't sound like a review from a current employee, as (s)he wrote "they have to", "they have" and "they can", so it's clear (s)he's not a part of us. As I wrote before, the most helpful reviews are from current Liberators --those who have not been terminated, and those are almost unanimously good. It's unfortunate that Glassdoor does not verify employment (https://help.glassdoor.com/article/Does-Glassdoor-verify-employees/en_US), which would be easy to do.

Pros

There are a handful of great people at the company, and I think the product is a very good idea.

Cons

The company culture is toxic and abusive. People don't respect each other and regularly talk badly of colleagues behind their backs or even directly to their faces. The platform was barely holding together. There were times where the application completely crashed several times per week or even multiple times per day, though I've heard this has improved since I left. Very high turnover, talented people all quickly move on to something better. We desperately needed more headcount on the Support team but we're told there wasn't enough money. Meanwhile, Sales continued to grow endlessly. New customers kept coming while those we already had kept churning. The pay is well below industry standard, the entire time I was there management talked about raises/bonuses/promotions that were coming "soon", but no sign of any of that after a year and a half at the company. I could go on, but you get the idea. This was my first job in the software industry so I thought this was all normal. Once I moved on, I couldn't believe how bad it was in retrospect.
