Founder culture runs rampant

Pros

Some nice people, growing business, remote.

Cons

Extremely chaotic. Micromanaging goes crazy. The founders get involved in things they have no expertise in whatsoever. You will never just be allowed to get on with your job. Because they say they’re “tech led” and based in SF they live that hustle culture that’s so pervasive in startups. It’s completely unnecessary and leads to people being taken advantage of.

Pros

The job is fully remote with unlimited PTO, and as long as you work under someone who respects your schedule, these benefits are definitely honored. Everyone is passionate and serious about their job, and it is encouraging to work with such a talented group of professionals. There is a lot of testing, room to help the company grow and learn, and excitement around trying new things. I can't speak for company-wide, but I have received a lot of support from my team and I am confident that I work with coworkers who are dedicated to helping the company grow.

Cons

Everyone is told in the interviews that the culture is fast paced and data-driven, so if you are not looking for a culture like this, then I could see being upset with the work/life balance and frequent involvement from upper management. The company is also very focused on profit before social responsibility (like most businesses are), so if you are wanting to work for an employer that puts sustainability and inclusivity at the forefront, then I would think about that as well.

Cons

- Like with any high-growth startup, there are sprints. You have to want to be at a company in this growth phase and enjoy the challenge.
