Pros

Cool clients. Let you choose Mac or PC computer.

Cons

This place is so disorganized every process and team is so disconnected. Every team operates in such siloes and you have to go so out of your way to understand how anything is connected. You probably won’t work with anyone in your location even if you’re in an office, so there is also zero connection between people or among teams. Way too high of expectations for billability. You are expected to do so much internal work, but only allotted two hours a week for it. So to get everything done you are forced to work well over 40 hours. Teams have no respect for boundaries and am constantly getting pinged late at night. People warn their teams weeks in advance of needing to sign off at 6 pm. Also goodluck if you work on the west coast. You are regularly expected to be on calls at 6 am instead of staffing teams based on time zones. Also too much work to even do high quality work. Constantly putting out fire drills, so I can’t dedicate anytime to actually putting thought into my work. Lack of transparency. No company emails when offices are closed or with big layoffs. No one even informs me I am switching accounts or members of our team are leaving until the last possible second. Good initial pay but raises are embarrassing. Had such high expectations for working here based on how they sell themselves, but it is such an awful place. Can’t wait to get out of here.

Thank you for your honest commentary on where there are opportunities to improve. Your experience is not what we are building for our employees. We do have multiple locations and many teams work across time zones and offices. Since we want to give our people flexibility where they work, this approach won’t change. We will be increasing in-person connectivity for both hybrid and remote workers. The better we are connected and get to know each other, the better we can collaborate and break down barriers. And while collaboration can help improve efficiency, we recognize that the nature of our industry and business does mean longer hours sometimes. That’s why our offerings like flex PTO and no meeting blocks are put in place to help manage the flow of work and allow for well-deserved time off work. --Wendy Carhart, Chief Communications, Culture, and Purpose officer

Pros

Competitive salary, but comes with a very high price (namely trauma) Some big name clients

Cons

This is hands down the worst company I have ever worked for and this is coming from a PR professional who has worked at several agencies and in house. Verbal and email beratement are commonplace. There is an open and enforced expectation that you will work 60-70 hour weeks without complaint. This is not during peak periods, this is the norm. I was working past midnight multiple times a week, as were several of my colleagues. Weekends and vacations are also expected to be used for work. If you complain, you’ll be punished, labeled “weak,” and will likely suffer professionally (I’m talking withholding promotions and raises, being blackballed from desirable accounts, etc.) You’ll be hard pressed to find one HR employee to meet with, even if facing a harassment situation. Speaking of harassment, IT HAPPENS A LOT HERE. I would seriously caution any woman, especially a junior employee, to accept a position at this company. There have been multiple cases of female employees being harassed, personally and professionally, by older male employees in leadership roles. Again, if you try to seek help, you’ll have to fight for a long time to find a listening ear (over a year). This place is SKETCHY. The business practices that go on here are extremely questionable, if not illegal. Favoritism runs rampant throughout. There’s a lot of pressure to attend out of office events and your absence, should you justifiably choose not to participate, will be noticed.

Pros

Excellent benefits ala working remotely, highly competitive pay, free snacks and drinks, lot of socializing

Cons

No consistency. No oversight. No structure or process. No clear expectations. Poor management and senior leadership. Lack of unifying vision. The senior Management will say many words but not communicate anything important. After twenty years in business they still feel like a start up because their growth is by acquisitions. Each purchase brings their own culture. No one assimilates. The work is largely uninspired because there are a million cooks in the kitchen. People from purchased companies have resentments about the loss of independence. No two groups work well in an iterative manner. They don't know how and no one requires it. Staff is top heavy which leads to battles of egos and personalities. Leadership sides with whomever has been there longer. This is not a real agency. It's nothing like any of the big players. It's a consortium of tiny companies that made enough of a ripple to get bought. It's an advertising, PR, marketing alliance.
