Pros

Perks - car, bonus, benefits, people. Not stuck at one location all day. National meeting in Las Vegas, and sometimes other places. 401k Match at 6%

Cons

Company takes out $175/month for the car. This is whether you use it or not. No other tobacco company does this. Cell phone allowance is stuck at $42, which is what it was 10 years ago. This is still flip phone rates. Depending on where you get placed could be negative. There are a lot of deadwood division managers out there that only look out for themselves. You will learn quickly if you landed this type of DM when you go above and beyond and they give you the same performance rating of a another TM that is lazy, calls out frequently, and is demoralizing to the team. Workload is terrible, even worse if you have to cover vacant territories (which there are plenty of). No time to complete projects and catch up on activities. People are drained. Company does not seem to care. They continue to add more initiatives. Company strategies do not align, causing headaches by running back and forth to stores, not accomplishing much. Company will have 10 priorities that are expected to be completed, while creating 5 more, all the while the TM is still expected to achieve the CE and productivity goals. Most TMs have a heavier workload than before, even after it was promised that the territories would become smaller. Quite the opposite. CEs used to be about the conversations. Now it's about the numbers. They say it's not about the numbers, but divisions trip over each other trying place the most coupons. Now name generations will be enforced. They are already being forced regionally through “fun contests” to sugar coat a goal you better not fall short on. Put a goal of 50-100 per day, and what do you think is going to happen? Not much conversation and misuse of coupons. Some DMs don't seem to care as long as they come in first. In addition, Name Generation has come down to lying to the Consumer just to achieve a higher percentage of entries. Pressure from management has forced TMs to mislead the consumer on why they 'need' to take an image/scan their ID. Home Office seems oblivious to what is going on in the field. There have been so many resignations, from many who were loyal for years. Vacancies = more stress for employees left to clean up the mess.

Pros

Car, tuition reimbursed 85%, 401k

Cons

About 6-7 years ago we would probably see a maximum of 10 vacancies nationwide but it would be quickly filled in. These days people are leaving faster than they can fill. Lots of people leaving before the completion of their first year and some even leaving during training. Most likely duped and deceived by the 3rd party recruiters just to get them in and get paid. Even seasoned Territory Managers are leaving as well. Most are very upset about the direction the company is heading so they are leaving and I don’t blame them. When employees feel abandoned by the company, the only obvious route is to leave for a company that cares. People have been doing this and the company has done nothing to resolve it. Until they react to this, I wouldn’t take the chance coming here knowing they won’t take care of you either. When researching this company, notice the common theme is, horrible pay, horrible work-life balance, horrible management, horrible promotion opportunities. Mix in with the legit reviews are glowing fake reviews. It currently says we are 3.0 overall score but that’s because of the boosted fake reviews on here. In actuality, it’s more like 2.4 for the Territory Manager position.

Pros

There are some decent benefits. They have a great maternity/paternity plan. They are inclusive with their benefits.

Cons

I used to love my job. I happily worked 50+ a week. I would have retired from this company. RAI/R. J. Reynolds actually cared about their employees. It wasn't lip service. Then we were bought out by BAT. They have destroyed our culture. They don't care about us at all. They are working field at a pace that is not manageable. We have to many brands to manage for the amount of stores, resets, product launches, price changes, POS changes, Sell in this merchandising goal, sell in this to your stores, etc. Each sell in is another reset. We are slammed and you feel set up to fail. Health insurance could definitely be better. My husband's company gave us the entire out of pocket deductible on our HSA and they were a lot smaller company. I know BAT could afford to make sure their employees could get their medications at the beginning of the year.
