Pros

No talk of open door policy- as they don't care what you think! Benefits- Health 401K Training

Cons

What BAT has done to Reynolds American: 1. Use to get a 3% pay raise- in 2019 2.8% 2. In July 2018 Car went from $150 to $175 in the middle of the year 3. October salary changes announced.....Not effective until April 2019...unless you were hired in January TM3- most were moved to the "new Minimum pay" after the raise......not before! So TM3's with 4-7 years experience are all at the minimum...… You had to be a TM3 for 3 years to get the high achiever raise.....so high achievers with several reviews above the bar are now at the minimum pay You will NEVER have any idea how the company is doing with regard to your bonus. There are no quarterly updates on how we are doing! Two weeks before the bonus is paid, your told what the payout factor is for that year! Hard to motivate people when you don't know how your doing all year long 3. High performance pay increases and bonuses! Yes, BAT has eliminated the Exceeds category which came with 150% of bonus and a much bigger pay raise. Now there's only one higher achieves category. 4. Your review & your panel review (to see if your promotable) are all done in secret. If you have a good manager, they fight for you, a bad manager will give credit for your projects to others on their team that they want to promote. Other managers may speak up at your review/panel with "What they have heard" because they have not worked with the candidate. 5. HR has allowed DM's to run their divisions like autonomous nations. I have never seen more HR investigations on DMs and all without changes.

Pros

Wonderful Benefits (car and gas paid, help with phone and internet bill) Independent/ daily freedom to make your own schedule No cubical!

Cons

My biggest qualms with RJRT is that without Territory managers the company would be sunk. TM’s are the workforce that keeps the company alive and, in general, we are treated like crap. They recently did a salary review but couldn’t even match our direct competitors pay. We are expected to do the impossible on a daily basis while our superiors sit at home all day barking out orders via email. They will tell you it’s not a difficult job, and if you are just looking at it on paper it’s not. But, trust me, it is. It’s physically, mentally, and emotionally tolling and we don’t even get fairly compensated for the abuse.

Pros

It used to be a really great company

Cons

Pay restructure - people with least time in the company got the biggest pay raise. People with the most time in got zero raise. Essentially making everyone pretty much equal. Almost everyone that has written a review on Glassdoor in the last 12-18 months (except for the fake reviews) have mentioned workload is not managible in its current state. Get ready for an additional increase in workload because they gave most TMs this “raise”. I have been through 3 pay adjustments with no increases in pay. And shortly after the pay is implemented, the workload gets to a level where people still end up quitting due to the stress of trying to obtain unrealistic expectations. Management keeps stressing they have reduced our workloads but in actuality they have increased 3 times. It shows the disconnect management has with reality. Our call visits are a very watered down version of their expectations of a category advisor should be. These days we only have enough time to walk in, check code dates and leave. No more discussions on driving the category. We are only telling them go pick up items A,B and C because if you don’t I am forced to cancel your contract without time for further explanation. 2019 will be know as the year of hell. Based on history, the company will dump so much work on the TMs, it will not matter how much of a raise people get. They will simply just leave like before. I hope the company proves me wrong, but you cannot ignore history.
