Pros

I get to work with our nation's military members and families, learning about their goals, assessing their needs, discussing their budget, and combining all of those to come up with the best financial plan I can for their financial future. In addition to the satisfaction of helping military families, the compensation for the work is also very good.

Cons

While First Command is a fantastic company to work for and the mission is outstanding, the job does require more than the standard 9-5 Mon-Fri mentality to be successful, especially in the first year. However, I personally believe the job satisfaction of helping people work towards a great financial future, and the compensation received as pros, far outweigh this con of longer work hours.

Pros

We work with the greatest clients in the world, our nations military! We are able to provide them with first class financial advice that most industry firms avoid because of a lack of "assets under management". Work flexibility is great and allows you to meet with clients while being able to have a balanced family life.

Cons

It takes a few years as a financial advisor before you really start to feel comfortable making recommendations to clients.

Pros

- Work/Life Balance - Great co-workers - Satisfaction of assisting clients in reaching their goals - Satisfaction of building a strong field force team

Cons

- Feel as though ACE is being used simply to track metrics, versus providing the service to clients that First Command stands for - Staff shortage at HO (understanding that this is currently being addressed) - Too many different training depts: BPC, Adoption, etc. (gets confusing as who to contact for assistance)
