Pros

Hours are fairly flexible depending on your manager. The work itself is fairly easy, but sometimes physically difficult - especially if you have trouble standing/lifting/maneuvering heavy carts (Walmart). If you like working on your own, this might be a good fit. Pay is decent if you just need some extra cash.

Cons

Aside from not the best pay and no benefits and poor training... *Cracks knuckles* Alright. Not even sure where to begin. I preface though saying I know each manager is different, but even just one bad one has now put a sour taste for this company in my mouth. I know no one who reads this knows me, but if you were to survey past employers and co-workers - you'd discover I am a fairly reasonable person who takes instructions and criticism well and have no issue following rules (even if silly). All that said, upon meeting one of THREE managers (Winn Dixie/Publix manager, Walmart manager, and Walgreens manager), my head manager being Winn Dixie/Publix - I found her abrasive, a little harsh, and whole lot of negative talk, especially about the company and upper management. But after only 3 months working under this person, I found it incredibly difficult to stay on her good side. My efforts were rarely met with any sort of compliment or encouragement. Between three managers, I struggled to meet their individual requirements for standard procedures. I had a huge family emergency happen and when I tried to explain it, I wasn't even met with an ounce of sympathy from my co-workers (at Walmart) and my head manager simply said, "Well, too bad" then proceeded to lecture me on some other issue and complain that I wasn't picking up on the process more quickly. I offered a job suddenly out of state during the Christmas season and would only be able to fulfill my duties through January 5 for Hallmark. I explained the situation to each boss and said I was committed through the 5th so I could make sure Xmas was down and V-Day was up. My Walmart and Walgreens manager understood and even wished me well in my new job. I never heard from my head boss until I was in Publix early Dec 30 at 730, she was supposed to arrive at 830, didn't arrive until 9:45, I had to leave by 11. She stormed down the aisle and hands in the air said, "Well! What happened?!" I gave her a confused look and she said, "you're quittin?!" I said, "Yes, I was offered a new job with benefits back home." She rolled her eyes in disgust and then went on a rant about how no one knows how to stay committed to a job, including myself. She said that she couldn't see how I would ever keep a job if I just bounced around and didn't work hard. I never show tears at work, but I couldn't help it and the water works started. She didn't even show a sign of remorse and just complained about how upper management needs to find committed people, not young folk who don't understand commitment. It gets better. After moving back home to my new job, I had realized I had forgotten to turn in my scanner device, and messaged my head boss saying I'd mail it back by a certain day and have someone place it under the flipper. The day before I was supposed to send it back, she called me and said, "No, don't send it back yet, we need to do some final close-out things on it with you, I'll walk you through it." So we did, and I had planned to send it back the day after I had promised. Apparently, that wasn't the right decision because the day it was supposed to show up in the flipper and hadn't yet, my boss calls me 5 times at my new job and left messages saying she'd have the sheriff come after me for stealing Hallmark property. Never once allowing for a second thought, "Oh, I told her not to send it, so maybe it will be delayed." Or at the very least have not the first thought be "She's a Thief!" I had never ever been accused of any crime, much less, theft. I was so livid, it was all I could do when I got back to her at the end of my work day and as calmly say, "It will be overnight-ed today, and arrive tomorrow at your house. Thanks, Bye." I even paid an extra $25 to make sure of it at the post office. She called back one more time, I screened it, and her the voicemail she left was, "Got your message, thanks." On top of all of this mess - Hallmark lost 3 of my paychecks throughout my 4 months. Good riddance.

Still a great place to work, just not long-term anymore

Pros

- Fantastic coworkers at all levels of the company, very rare to find someone who isn't both great at what they do and great to work with - Company lives its brand internally and externally, really wants to be empathetic and celebrate life's special moments with both consumers and employees - Good benefits, fairly competitive salary (not good bonus though) - Flexible in work schedule and good focus on work/life balance & WFH now, but awesome coworkers & location will make you want to work in the office sometimes - Newer leadership has increased transparency on company financial performance & key strategic decisions, although not sure they're honest all the time - Increased focus on digital capabilities, hope it's not too late

Cons

Declining industry + pandemic has put a huge squeeze on everything: - Increased & unnecessary competitiveness across departments for shrinking resources (time/people/financial) - Outdated & unsupported IT infrastructure, lots of workaround DIY if you don't want to deal with the bureaucratic mess - Limited career growth opportunities - Every strategy is driven to reduce costs for survival, very little investment product/tech innovation which will hurt Hallmark in the long run - Very short-term focused, changing goals due to retailer pressure or poor project management. Long-term projects get killed or hacked together due to lack of resources & motivation.

Pros

You are allowed to create your own schedule as long as they are between the hours 7 to 5. You are also independent which is good for those introverted folks.

Cons

The pay is not even part time pay. RM's have no room for advancement unless you work very hard under budget. Managers get way better benefits and are respected more even though they don't do a lot of the manual labor work that RMs face.
