Pros

Best site for commercial real estate marketing

Cons

The company treats their sales people like trash. They charge back/reverse/claw back every sale you make once customer cancels. Company makes their money for every month the ad runs but they will charge you back when ad ends. The ad is designed to sell or lease out a property so they pretty much all end. They find every way they can to not pay you what you earned. They micromanage every little thing you do and require activity levels that are extremely unrealistic. Stress levels are through the roof. Clients hate the company but are forced to use it because it’s basically a monopoly. Ask a broker. A miserable place to work as a sale professional. The absolute WORST comp plan I have ever been a part of. There’s a million things I can go on about. If you are considering this company, reach out to 2-3 reps and ask them to talk with you.

Pros

relatively high base salary, large company with big marketing budget, good benefits when it comes to insurance and 401k

Cons

toxic work environment, poor leadership, constantly changing and complicated commission structure. Take reversals on any sales when the client cancels even if the contract has been completed so you're really only being loaned your commission. Culture based on fear from the top down and leaders who are yes men and operate based on fear of losing their own position. Company recruiters are under pressure as well and will mislead to fill roles. Required to use sick time for a dentist appointment etc, often selling against other reps working for other companies which are part of costar. No work life balance, individuals are not valued, every aspect of your day to day is tracked and measured based on metrics that do not drive revenue. Unless you absolutely need the job please consider other options, do not relocate, do not move your family.

Pros

Fantastic training that will prepare you for life outside of CoStar. Great snacks in the kitchen. Some decent people who work there.

Cons

CoStar is trying to slowly kill LoopNet off by stripping features, over pricing them, and doing nothing to advance content. There is a culture of workplace bullying that basically changes or forces you out with no corporate oversight. Good salesmen get to do whatever they want without consequence. Stale leads. Bad pay for the Bay Area.
