Pros

In my role on the web app (RMC) team, I had a lot of freedom about what I developed, and there was a lot of coding to do (ie not meetings). There was rarely any stress from things being broken in production or regarding revenue. Typical Silicon Valley perks and nice people.

Cons

I left in 2014, so this might not be relevant now. Around the time I left, there was a lot of engineering turnover. The CEO and the PMs didn't provide a clear direction for the product. And engineering salaries were below average.

Pros

- The pay is exceptional for the field - Most of the employees are great people and the culture was easygoing - The products basically sell themselves - There's a lot of travel involved

Cons

- Essentially zero opportunity for advancement, they prefer outside hires to fill the upper level roles - There's a lot of travel involved

Pros

Work life balance is great, mainly because no one else works that hard. Free lunch on Tue/Thu. Bottom level employees are genuinely good people.

Cons

Exec team is inexperienced, super high turnover. 5 VPs have left the company in the last ~1 year: 2 VP of Ops, 1 VP of Eng, 1 VP of Marketing, 1 VP of Business Development. When so many VPs leave doesn't it mean that the company is going nowhere? No one likes the CEO, who only cares about himself. The pay is horrible, way under market rate, can't afford to live in the Bay Area with Axcient salary. The company hasn't grown much in the last year, when the company doesn't grow of course there is no career development for employees.
