Thank you for taking time to share your positive First Command experience. We maintain our strong culture and mission by attracting and retaining talented people. We focus on providing our employees with opportunities for professional growth and reward them through an attractive compensation and benefits program, including paid time off, paid parental leave and a flexible, hybrid work environment. We offer competitive pay determined by third-party studies of employers in our market area, which is supplemented with a generous benefits package. In addition, as an employee-owned company, First Command offers an Employee Stock Ownership Program to qualified employees. This valuable retirement benefit is funded entirely by company contributions. Thank you again for sharing your experience.

Great Place to work

Pros

Great culture, and hybrid work with a requirement to work in the office 2 days a week. ESOP is a fantastic benefit once you've been there for 6+ years. The benefits are great for a company of its size, especially the maternity/paternity leave. Leadership works hard to be as transparent as they can be, and there are a lot more women in leadership roles than most financial firms. You also feel like a family in a non toxic way.

Cons

Pay is lower than you can find elsewhere, however the ESOP will make up for this if you stay awhile. You can also find better benefits elsewhere at a bigger firm. The culture has a lot of conservatives politically which can always get annoying, but it is fort worth. Management could be more focused and less centralized.

Thank you for taking time to share your experience. The mission of the company is incredibly important to our Advisors. They tell us that one of the most compelling elements of this career is the opportunity to serve military personnel and their families in a meaningful way. Our Advisors go through an extensive training program designed to equip them to succeed as independent contractors. Advisors learn how to build and grow their own business, serve new clients and provide quality, face-to-face financial coaching. They learn how to coach our clients to become financially disciplined and confident in their pursuit of financial security. Regarding the cost of operation, it’s important to note that office bills and other expenses are part of the financial responsibilities that come with being an independent contractor. Instead of receiving a salary and benefits, our Advisors earn competitive commissions and bonuses. And from that money they pay their business expenses. Throughout their careers, we equip our Advisors with tools for success, including ongoing investments in technology, marketing resources and continued leadership development. The rewards of hard work and dedication are a satisfying career, a company that fully supports you, and the opportunity to help those who serve in their pursuit of lifelong financial security. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience.
