Horrible reputation in the community

Pros

Work hard, and you might get paid a decent amount. They 'pay' for your study materials and licensing, so worst-case scenario, you walk away with a certification.

Cons

Definitely stuck in the times and rely on overly-aggressive sales tactics - selling whole life insurance to people who don't need it. Very much a good old boys' club with no ambition to change their business model. Reputation in the community as 'predatory' and were apparently banned from certain military facilities.

Being an Advisor

Pros

Great atmosphere depending on what district you are in. Unlimited income, flexible schedule. Get to make a difference in peoples lives. The dynamics of the job can be great. People who make it stay on for a long period of time.

Cons

Can work long hours, may have to tell people what they don't want to hear, rejection. Sometimes people have unrealistic expectations and they take it hard when you tell them the reality. Not everyone is ready to have a financial advisor in their lives.

Pros

Company lives its work-live balance culture and its values; depends on the region though.

Cons

benefits, training and promotion dont enter into the situation until you have proven that you can sell. Training is scant, benefits are unclear and promotion appears purely political
