Pros

At one of the field offices there are not many pros. Corporate headquarters is very nice and may have benefits not available at small local offices.

Cons

Very hard to make good commissions without selling whole life policies. Some district advisors may have been great advisors but have been promoted beyond their ability, which creates bad district work environment. There seems to be a culture of malicious gossip among some district advisors and management at corporate.

Not at all for the employee

Pros

The overall company truly does believe in helping military families. The staff at my location are very friendly and accommodating.

Cons

Next to no employee benefits, inconsistent expectations between advisers. Not to mention each advisory is technically in charge of their own business, so if they choose not to focus on military families or anything else for that matter, there is no accountability. Furthermore, it has been stated that I'm salary unless I go beneath my 40hrs in which case I will be hourly. I don't anticipate staying long though I need a job and will do it to the best of my abilities while I am here. I was hired with shading over the salary and benefits, with bits revealed slowly so as to not have me immediately run. Bottom line, I needed a job. But this will not be a career. I also agree with other commentators, it looks like Home Office has been adding comments to boost their appearance on here. And it is clear that the impression on military bases of this company is quite tarnished.

Pros

At one time, First Command offered great opportunities but this has changed, yes the gararge is great and the employees support each other but management does not vaule them as much as it sees them as an expense and something to be managed rather as a potential debit rather than an asset.

Cons

First Command has over the past several years swept out a number of long term employees by telling their jobs had been eliminated with no opportunity to move to another position. If you are looking for a place to make a committment to a company that will make a committment to you . . . look elsewhere.
