We invite employees to discuss business-related problems with their supervisors or with any members of management. That open door policy is highly valued by our workforce. In our most recent employee experience survey, more than 90 percent of employees said they have confidence in the leadership of this organization and believe leaders care about their employees’ well-being. Specifically, the employees in the Client Experience and Marketing department gave the highest average scores in the company. First Command has been named one of the Best Companies to Work for in Texas by Texas Monthly, the Texas Association of Business, Texas Society for Human Resource Management and Best Companies Group. This recognition was based in large part on results of an employee survey. In that survey roughly nine out of 10 First Command employees said they would recommend working here to a friend. In addition to surveys, we rely on the results of reviews on Glassdoor and other sites to gain critical insights. We will be sure to make our leadership aware of your post so we can continue to improve.

- Growth! Company is doing well financially. Employees benefit with ESOP and job security - Focused on psychological safety, training/development, agile, diversity & inclusion - Lots of job opportunities

Cons

- Surplus of training, development and opportunity with little financial incentive to stay, particularly for individual contributors. Attrition is putting a huge strain on hiring managers. - Technology (BIS) leadership is problematic with a lack of effective engagement within the organization. Senior leadership openly bad mouths teams and people, causing a divide. - Everyone is busy, but not productive. It's a common complaint to be rushing from back to back meetings, context switching, triple booked, etc... when does value get delivered?

I get an high level of fulfillment serving those who have served our country. They are amazing to work with. And the ESOP retirement contribution is unbelievable. Work life balance for my role is really nice. I put my family first and the company is very supportive.

Cons

Initial salary is only average when you don't consider the retirement benefits.

Best Place I've Ever Worked!

*Virtual environment during Covid is well thought-out and planned *CEO cares about people and is very transparent on all things *Marketing Department co-workers/management are team players and hard workers *Many long-term employees show the company is stable and a desirable place to be long-term *Management is flexible with employees' needs *Work/life balance is important *Benefits are good, i.e. ESOP *Beautiful campus

*Behind in technology, but we know we are and are working hard to get there *AGILE environment isn't across ALL departments, so there is some disconnect *Department structure in Marketing needs some additions, i.e. need a marketing coordinator and a traffic coordinator to manage all the work in the department amongst different departments within Marketing *More engagement with management is desired (this is most likely due to the current virtual environment)
