Pros

The Portland development team is great. So good in fact, that I assume they're all looking for other jobs like me.

Cons

The managers that I've worked with seem unable to understand software development basics, and as such are ineffective leaders. Because of this lack of skill, a severe culture of blame has been established by management. For example, the SVP in Portland and HR both blame the CEO for promoting none of the very deserving development team, but all of the management team. One of the bigger goals of the past few years has been getting off the legacy system. The development team has to this point made great strides towards this goal, with zero input (or recognition) from management. Current plans to continue this effort were made by the development and product teams, again with no action from management apart from promoting themselves.

Pros

There is a good mix of experience levels, people and processes to help the team be successful.

Cons

Like most every company there are planning and preparation concerns with project management, but for the most part those are managed well with few exceptions.

Pros

InComm has a lot of exciting things going on. One is never board with their job. Great opportunity to stretch and learn new things. My team is fantastic. Good people who care and desire to be the best they can. Management team I had cared about the well being of its team members.

Cons

The Salary is weak. The PTO is weaker. The communication of projects and directives could be improved.

Going down hill, fast!

Pros

The people on my team were great. There were some good training tools available, as well as a management sills training program (if you could find the time to attend). Company benefits were above average with a good 401k match, too. 'Cupcake' day was a nice touch and the paid parking and the on-site gym were also a nice perks.

Cons

Things seemed to be getting better but in the last two years it's clearly started going down hill again. The on again, off again hiring freeze that occured the last two years was very challenging as we had a lot of turnover in my department; but senior leaders didn't seem to care. It was alwyas someone else's fault; in the end I decided to leave because I couldn't trust my boss. Priorities were always changing, so we couldn't get anything acomplished. One department had a project go on for years and never launched it. I think they finally just gave up. People who didn't do their jobs, but who were friends with a boss were not held accountable, so it made our jobs harder. We were never asked for input in solving problems.
