Pros

I've worked for First Command for almost 32 years now. I love our Mission of "coaching those who serve" and have seen firsthand the value our financial Advisors provide to clients, which include members of my family and me. As an employee, First Command has taught me the importance of "paying yourself first," and thanks to their generous profit-sharing plan, I can look forward to a very nice retirement when the time comes. Until then, I will continue working at a job I love for a company I'm so proud to be part of.

Cons

I can't really think of any cons to share, especially now that we can flex our schedule and work from home at least 3 days a week. That flexibility has been a game changer.

Thank you for sharing your positive experience and we appreciate your long tenure with First Command. The mission of our company is incredibly important to our employees and Advisors. They tell us that one of the most compelling elements of this career is the opportunity to serve military personnel and their families in a meaningful way. At First Command, we maintain our strong culture and mission by attracting and retaining talented people. We focus on providing our employees with opportunities for professional growth, and we reward them through an attractive compensation and benefits program, including a flexible, hybrid work environment. As an employee-owned company, First Command offers an Employee Stock Ownership Program to qualified employees. This valuable retirement benefit is funded entirely by company contributions. We appreciate you recognizing our leadership team’s commitment to transparency and ongoing communication. Thank you for taking time to share your experience.

Pros

I liked my coworkers and the advisors I spoke with every day. The job was relatively easy.

Cons

They are constantly and consistently understaffed in all departments. This made the few traders that actually showed up for work consistently have to pull extra weight. They say they are family oriented and understanding but that is false. I was not given time off when I had one death in my family and when my dad got sick. My direct supervisor let her emotions show and would have bad mood swings. You have to know the right people or suck up to move up

Pros

ESOP Good people can be found Gym

Cons

Pay is below market competition. Require vaccine or weekly testing. They don’t listen to their home office employees and when concerns are made their response every time is “based off market research we have proven we don’t care”. They revere advisors as gods and pay them ridiculous amounts while the home office support workers make pennies in comparison. Unless you are executive or a high earning advisor they look down on you as if you are beneath them and don’t matter. Talented people are leaving in droves for better pay but they still don’t listen. Don’t worry they will have market research to combat this review!

Thank you for sharing your perspective with us. At First Command, we maintain our strong culture and mission by attracting and retaining talented people. We focus on providing our employees with opportunities for professional growth, and we reward them through an attractive compensation and benefits program. We offer competitive pay which is supplemented with a generous benefits package. In addition, as an employee-owned company, First Command offers an Employee Stock Ownership Program to qualified employees. This valuable retirement benefit is funded entirely by company contributions. First Command Financial Advisors go through an extensive training program designed to equip them to succeed as independent contractors and earn a strong income through competitive industry commissions. Advisors learn how to build and grow their own business, serve new clients and provide quality, face-to-face financial coaching. Through this hard work and dedication, they coach our clients to become financially disciplined and confident in their pursuit of financial security. We encourage employees to discuss concerns with their supervisors or management. In a recent employee experience survey, more than 90 percent of employees said they have confidence in the leadership of our organization and believe leaders care about their employees’ well-being. In October, First Command ranked 19 in Newsweek’s Top 100 Most Loved Workplaces list. Employee surveys and Glassdoor reviews provide us critical insights. We appreciate your feedback and thank you for taking the time to share your experience.
