Pros

The onboarding process is pretty smooth until the training starts then the suprises start!

Cons

They start out by having you learn 84 pages of scripts which they don’t warn you about then. Then after you get back from academy class the stress begins…

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. First Command seeks to attract and retain talented people by providing employees and Advisors with opportunities to enhance their professional knowledge, develop leadership skills and grow within the organization. As you note, our Advisors do face some challenges, but they also enjoy many opportunities. Our Advisors go through an extensive training program designed to equip them to succeed as independent contractors. Advisors learn how to build and grow their own business. They are eligible to earn a strong income through competitive industry commissions on sales of financial products, plus additional annual and deferred compensation. But most importantly, they learn how to coach our clients to become financially disciplined and confident in their pursuit of financial security. We appreciate your feedback and thank you for taking the time to share your experience.

Pros

As a financial advisor, I love being in a position to put people on the path to financial success. I literally change people's lives. First Command is a great company that knows what it does and keeps its focus on the mission. The company is focused on doing the most that it can to make sure everyone has what we need to be successful. Work conditions depend on where you live, but you have the ability to shape your situation.

Cons

No job is perfect; no company is perfect. The same is true for First Command. This is also not a 9 to 5 career. If you want a 9 to 5, keep it moving. The hours are long. The work is fulfilling, but there is a LOT to learn. It's not something that you can pick up overnight.

Thank you for sharing your experience as a First Command Financial Advisor. The mission of the company is incredibly important to our Advisors. They tell us that one of the most compelling elements of this career is the opportunity to serve military personnel and their families in a meaningful way. Our Advisors go through an extensive training program designed to equip them to succeed as independent contractors and earn a strong income through competitive industry commissions. Advisors learn how to build and grow their own business, serve new clients and provide quality, face-to-face financial coaching. Through this hard work and dedication, they coach our clients to become financially disciplined and confident in their pursuit of financial security. We appreciate your feedback and thank you for taking the time to share your experience.

Pros

Great people to work with.

Cons

First Command never learns. Let's overwork, and under pay employees! Let's cut jobs, and divide up the work between existing employees. Let those employees work hard, and longer with no additional pay compensation. Oh but wait we can tout the ESOP! Which is great, but let's face it I can't live off the ESOP, I live off my salary.

We are committed to creating and sustaining a culture that inspires our employees and makes them feel appreciated and part of the First Command family. Encouraging feedback and constructive criticism is part of that commitment. Your comment on compensation is an important one. We focus on providing our employees with opportunities for professional growth, and we reward them through an attractive compensation and benefits program. We offer competitive pay determined by third-party studies of employers in our market area, which is supplemented with a generous benefits package. In addition, as an employee-owned company, First Command offers an Employee Stock Ownership Program to qualified employees. This valuable retirement benefit is funded entirely by company contributions. First Command maintains an open-door policy, and we encourage employees and Advisors to discuss business-related problems with their supervisors or management. Employee surveys and Glassdoor reviews provide us critical insights, so thank you for sharing your feedback.
