It could be so good

Pros

I had the most amazing building to care for. The concept of the company is one that I know will take off and I was very passionate about growing with that concept. The pay is well above market rate. The commission structure just improved and they seemed to be trying to give more networking opportunities.

Cons

Sentral is rather new in the property management space. They need to recruit qualified employees but as soon as you get past the salary, the benefits and experience will make you wishing you could leave. With any general manager role, you are on call 24 hours a day but with this one you only get 10 PTO days. The home team gets unlimited and has a much more flexible schedule. The amount of time new programs or policies were introduced was almost comical. There is bizarre take on training. You will need to take 4 training for a simple add on, but there are no trainings for the PMS system we use. If a change is rolled out you are never made aware of it explicitly. I was offered so many things that never came to fruition. The dress code is literally insane for 2025. They took away every color we could wear with no notice.

Pros

> Encourages team members to step up and take lead on projects > Plenty of resources to seek assistance > Lots of room for growth within the company > Competitive pay

Cons

> You need to be comfortable with change > There is a lot of turnover both at the site and home team level > Prioritization of overall portfolio performance over individual properties often leads to reallocation of team members to one property in need at the expense of another property's performance.

Horrible Place to Work and Live.

Pros

I don't really do much and get paid for it.

Cons

Horrible AND confusing check in process as stated by MANY guests. They have a whole online book dedicated to check in which is a terrible idea because barely anybody reads it. Realistically, barely anybody will read that. You absolutely need to have a smartphone and it have a valid US number to precheck in or else you cannot get the room you paid for. Pre check in links sometimes doesn't work and I cannot check them in until they do that, which is annoying, if they are here in front of me with an ID and a card in their name, why can i not check them in myself and bypass the pre check in process. Extremely low prices on nightly stays make this place a hotspot for questionable guests. They are trying to be an apartment/ hotel/ airbnb but completely fail at the last 2 and are a mediocre apartment complex since rents are extremely high for what you get, especially since there's another apartment complex just across the street from here and charge less and are still very nice. The fact that its an hotel/ airbnb as well make some guests a nuisance for the tenants that pay lots of money to LIVE here. Severely understaffed. Everybody is here starting at 9 am and once 5pm hits, everybody leaves except the night person, which then has to deal with everything that happens. there should be a mid shift and security present starting at 5pm until 11pm so there is always someone available to assist anybody. Management doesn't know what they're doing. Well you have to define what you are. You cant be everything and be successful at it all. If you pick hotel, streamline the check in process, let the agent actually check in a person. If you pick apartment, find comps in the area to match apartment pricing, don't just put a random number because that's what you think is correct. Many residents have not renewed their contracts citing that it is too expensive now for what they get, amenities are dirty, housekeeping doesn't do a great job and maintenance is useless. Keeps on closing work orders even if they are not complete. I want to update my post. Recently I have found out that they secretly record us both in phone calls and through video. I know this because a conversation with me and a guest was recorded without my knowledge. Also, the GM is telling front desk employees to write fake reviews on Google to boost the rating. I don't know the reasoning but I know it is happening since I saw a text conversation explaining everything. Asking reviews from contractors, anybody that comes in to work on the property or friends of the front desk agents. I am currently looking for another job.

Pros

Slightly higher pay than average

Cons

A bunch of people who think they know it all. Weak operating systems. Claim they have an app, but it is garbage. Truly hated my life while I was there.

Poor Leadership

Business Outlook

Pros

Competitive pay. Luxury properties and opportunities to build genuine connections with residents and some colleagues.

Cons

Poor leadership and high turnover. Leadership changes constantly, and these changes hinder the performance of the employees below them, as feedback can quickly go from positive to negative. Personal relationships and feelings supersede company loyalty and hard work.

Growing pains

Pros

Beautiful buildings. Innovative approaches. Technology is a big focus. Nice upper management. Pay tends to be competitive / on higher end.

Cons

Lack of consistency and structure. Operates like a start up and has constant changes. Communication and transparency is lacking. Lots of layoffs and overnight changes. Work / life balance is lacking and you feel bad for using pto. Health insurance could be better.

Pros

The pay is good and decent benefits

Cons

I experienced significant workplace exclusion and unprofessional behavior under previous management. When I reported a security guard for unsafe conduct (sleeping on the lobby couch while guests waited for assistance), the concern was not addressed promptly and I was required to continue working with him for months. The situation later escalated into a serious incident involving that guard and a resident, after which he was terminated. Earlier intervention could likely have prevented the situation. There was also a persistent culture of gossip and rumor-spreading among certain coworkers. Passive-aggressive comments and cliquish behavior were common, despite my consistently maintaining a professional and cooperative attitude. While some managers recognized and praised my work, the workplace dynamics created a stressful environment. The situation ultimately took a toll on my mental health and contributed to my decision to leave. To be fair, the new director has made efforts to improve professionalism and reduce the “clique” culture, but there is still work to be done to ensure a respectful and supportive environment for staff.
